A digital bank's credit decisioning was bottlenecked by a legacy core banking system and a manual review process that couldn't evaluate alternative data. We replaced it with a real-time underwriting engine that gives credit teams direct control over policy—without raising a ticket.

The Challenge

The bank's credit decisions were processed through their core banking system, which returned results in 48–72 hours and had no ability to evaluate alternative data sources. Credit policy changes required IT involvement, testing cycles, and release windows—meaning the risk team was always operating on policy that lagged behind market conditions. There was no structured reason code output for declined applications, complicating regulatory reporting and applicant communication.

What We Built

We built a real-time underwriting engine that pulls multi-bureau data (CIBIL and Equifax), enriches with Account Aggregator bank statement data, applies the bank's credit policy rules, and returns an approve, refer, or decline decision with structured reason codes—in under 2 seconds. Credit policy is managed through a no-code rule engine that the risk team controls directly, without engineering involvement. Every decision is logged with a full audit trail for regulatory review.
